Had a great weekend-mostly watching high school wrestling. Then we went to a fund raising banquet for our local high school team and had a very good time. One more day at work and then I'm off to visit my parents at their winter home in Texas. The weather is very nice here in Mn today so it's not as much fun to tease folks about my trip to a warmer climate. No matter how unseasonably warm it will be here, it won't be warm enough to lay by the pool as I plan to do at Mom and Dad's. I will enjoy spending one on one time with my folks but will miss my family at home.

Well it's the start of another week and it's cold again. It was a very nice weekend and especially warm for Minnesota in January. Next week I'll travel to Texas to visit my parents for a week. They live in the "valley" near the Mexico border and it is warm there so I am excited. It will be nice to spend time with Mom and Dad but I will miss my kids, hubby and Cookie.
My next project, when I come home, is to paint my master bed room and bath. My sister got me a new comforter set that is beautiful but does require a color adjustment. Any indoor projects need to be completed before spring as once it starts getting warmer, I will be obsessed with planting.

Yeserday I finished painting the office and cleaning up the hardwood floors. Next I'll put everything back in place and hubby will cut and install new baseboard trim. I love the light sage color.
A friend brought me a set of wine glasses to paint for a gift-she wants a bunko theme. She needs them in less than a week so I'd better get painting. I've done many glasses for friends, personalizing them with their hobbies and interests but this will be the first time for someone else to give.
My sister-in-law also wants me to paint on an old rope handled metal bushel basket. She's also looking for an old ringer washer that I make into beverage coolers. She hasn't decided on a theme or colors but most of the others I have done are tropical beach themed. Flamingos, parrots, and palm trees seem to be pretty popular and are fun to do. I'll have to heat the garage to do these projects.

It's the start of a new week and boy are they going fast-it's almost the end of what has been a very cold January. Part of our weekend was spent at a funeral for the dad of one of my closest friends. It was a difficult time but we were able to laugh a bit as we remembered better times. My own parents are in the same age group so it hit home with me just how precious time spent with loved ones is. I decided that a visit to Texas, where my mom and dad winter, is in order. I'm hoping to make arrangements for a trip south in the next few weeks.
This week I'll be painting our home office after removing 2 layers of wallpaper. And, my men will be doing some ice fishing so I'll have the house to myself for a few days. Yipee!!!

Another day
My second blog and I've made some changes to my page. My daughter is going to help me with some photos soon but I was able to post one of my middle granddaughter, Emma.
Last night my hubby and I watched my niece play a high school basketball game in a nearby town. She lives over an hour away so it was nice to see her and visit with my brother and sister-in-law.
I finished stripping wallpaper in our home office-it was 2 layers and I think they were glued on with cement. I got a bucket of drywall mud and patched some bad spots including a hole that someone had kicked in the wall. It looks very nice and I am hoping to paint this weekend-I'm thinking of a pale sage green as it's a north facing room. What do you think?

getting started
This is my first ever blog and I'm just gonna jump right in.
I live in Minnesota and, yes, it is cold here but not as cold as last week. The beautiful changes of season make it worth living here and anticipating a Minnesota spring gets one through the winter.
I'm married, have four kids, counting my son-in-law, and three beautiful grand-daughters. I work for the state judicial system in a courtroom setting. I am addicted to reading, gardening, and junking and am lucky to have very good friends to share these passions with.
